“Numbersense” <\/b>by Kaiser Fung<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
In this talk, Fung will discuss the issues arising from Big Data studies, explain what numbersense is, and how numbersense clears the fog of Big Data. Numbersense, he says, is hard to teach in a classroom. In this new book, he uses a series of case studies based on recent news on school rankings, the obesity epidemic, digital marketing, economic indicators, and fantasy football.<\/div>\n

Kaiser Fung teaches statistics at NYU in SCPS. He is Vice President of Business Intelligence and Analytics at Vimeo. Previously, he led the analytics team at Sirius XM Radio. He is the creator of the acclaimed Junk Charts blog (http:\/\/junkcharts.typepad.com<\/a>), which pioneered the critical examination of data and graphics in the mass media; and the author of two popular books on statistical thinking. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, in addition to degrees from Princeton and Cambridge Universities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
